CAMAGÜEY. – Denia Morejón Reyes, vice-president of the Provincial Electoral Commission (CEP, Spanish acronym) in Camagüey - the biggest territory of Cuba - announced that for the future general elections,1 757 polling stations will work, of them, 271 will take root in residences conditioned with all the indispensable requisites for an honest, secret and direct voting, of the population, according to the specifications of the Law 72, Electoral Law.

She alsoexplained , that more than 11 250 organizing authorities, will finish this August the integral training, while they are employed in parallel at Camagüey´s thirteen municipalities in the preparation of the process of nomination candidates' for delegates of the municipal assemblies. They work in the cross-check of the voters' record and making of the citizens' list with legal capacity, which will be exhibited in public places of each of 871 electoral districts so that all the involved ones could correct errors, modify them and update them.

When will happen the candidates' nomination and the suffrages for the local governments, and how many electorate foresees go to the polls?

“We have 3 279 areas for the candidates' nomination in the whole province, process that will be developed from September 4 until next September 30, and on October 22, from seven from the morning until six o'clock in the afternoon, the polling stations will be opened for the election of the delegates of the municipal assemblies. In those districts where none of nominated persons reach more than half of the valid votes, the second turn will be celebrated on the following Sunday of the proper month … The preliminary number of verified electorate goes up to 584 464 suitable persons and with right to vote”, added the vice-president of the CEP.

Morejón Reyes, emphasized the participation of almost a thousand collaborating young people of the high schooland the university in the electoral process, and of 101 professionals and students of the licentiate of Law like supervisors of the suffrages, in charge to look over the fulfillment of the constitutive laws that they endorse the Cuban political system of participative democracy, sui generis in the world where the proper people proposes its candidates and votes for them so that it represents them from the residence community up to the Cuban Parliament.

The vice-president of the CEP also offered details of the current activities for the integration of the propaganda and communication of the general electoral process 2017-2018 endorsed with banners, educationalfolding, informative spaces … that become strong in the thought and ethical and transparent example of the leader of the Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel.
