The exercises, considered the biggest made by NATO since the end of the so-called Cold War, mobilize since Wednesday 36 thousand troops from some 30 countries in territories of Italy, Portugal and mainly Spain, where 20 thousand soldiers will be deployed.

Indicated yesterday that already several groups protested, non-violently, in places like Bilbao and Valencia, where they obstructed movement of military equipment and chained themselves to armored vehicles during the first phase started on October 3.

The groups also announced they would make a human chain next November 4 against the visit of the NATO Secretary General, Norwegian Jens Stoltenberg, to the city of Zaragoza, in the northern part of Spain.

War starts here, letâÖs stop it here is the slogan of the protest and civil resistance mobilizations in face of maneuvers which will extend until November 6.

The trainings were announced by the Atlantic alliance as maneuvers to certify their new corps of High Availability, conceived to act in any zone of the planet in a short period of time.
