The defense of the Cuban Revolution, the growing support to the social process of the island and its high level of human development, the accusation against the US constant hostility and the need of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed against Cuba have been its battle flags since the beginning of its solidarity work.

As well as denouncing the imprisonment of the Cuban Five arrested on September 12, 1998 for monitoring and preventing violent actions against Cuba planned by extreme right-wing groups from US territory, in the South Florida.

During a session of assessment, yesterday, the specialist of the Bureau for Latin America of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Idania Ramos, who maintains a constant working relationship with Colombia, highlighted the work of the 22 friendship organizations in 2013 in eight cities of seven departments.

Meanwhile, the deputy chief of the diplomatic mission of the island in Colombia, Javier Caamaño, stressed the cohesion and consolidation of a solidarity movement strengthened by the unity of its various elements joined in a single effort which now also extends its support to the neighboring nation of Venezuela.

As usual, the programme of the meeting included lectures on the development of the Cuban society, the new projects and plans of the Revolution, the adjustments of its economic model (a thousand light-years from neolibelar patterns), focused on strengthening the values of socialism.

A special tribute was paid to Alejandro Gomez, the creator of Cuba sí, yanquis no, who died this week, and was a pioneer of solidarity with Cuba and with all the social struggles of Latin America and the world.
