The special performances of the Ballet of Camagüey and the Company Teatro D'Luz livened up the inaugural ceremony, which was celebrated with the presence of the Hero of the Republic of Cuba Orlando Cardoso Villavicencio; the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca; Isabel Cárdenas, president of the Government, and other authorities of the politics and culture.

In the opening words, the outstanding Camagüeyan writer Jesús David Curbelo, admitted the contribution of the publishing house Ácana in the publication of the literary memory of such an important people for the Cuban letters as Camagüey. Also he extoled the importance of infusing to the Fair the peculiar flavor of the culture of this city.

Hundreds of persons, mostly children and young people, fulfilled the areas of the Rural Casino in search of the titles in sale. Among most looked in the morning were Cocinando con Amor by Jaime López García; El largo y tortuoso  camino de Los Beatles by Joao Fariñas and El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha de Miguel by Miguel de Cervantes.

Big expectation caused the presentation of Lamento y Perdón, by Orlando Cardoso Villavicencio, the first fiction novel for adults that the Colonel of the Revolutionary Armed Forces writes, as well as the new edition of Reto a la Soledad.

Book presentations, talks on the work of great writers, concerts and recitals of poetry take place in different spaces prepared for the occasion, such as the Literary Café La Comarca and the Recreational Center Casino.

This edition of the Fair foresees, also, activities in most of the bookstores of the city, in the center of promotion located in the Park of the Love, in educational institutions like the Camagüey University Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz and several rural communities and municipalities.
