Schools from the primary level up to universities, and churches, welcomed the presence of the prestigious Cuban musicians, who as descendents of Haitians, have devoted themselves, principally, for 20 years to the cultivation of the vocal singing in creole language.

According to Emilia Díaz, its director, the presentations in important university theaters of Alberta and Edmonton in Canada, and of Idaho and Wyoming in the United States, were accompanied by chats on different aspects of the artistic chore of Desandann.

The tour enjoyed of a very good reception, since there exists an eager public to know more on a culture historically relegated from the big mass media, and affected by the adversities that suffers one of the most impoverished nations of the planet, pointed out the teacher.

To teach the songs, to explain the meaning of the lyrics in creole and of the body movements with which they are accompanied in the singings, and to demonstrate how imbricated the traditions of Haiti are in the Cuban identity, were the principal interests in this North American journey.

Desandann celebrated this 2014 its 20th the anniversary of foundation, and among the recognition obtained in the year are the Award CUBADISCO in the category of Vocal Music and the Living Memory, of the Cuban Institute of Cultural Research Juan Marinello, in addition to the warm welcome of diverse institutions.

With 30 tours in two decades, it has visited countries of four continents, excepting Africa, and has recorded eight albums in Cuba, the United States, France, Canada and England.
