CAMAGÜEY - Documentary management is a new path taken by the affiliate of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in Camagüey, with the opening of the Esther Montes de Oca Library-Bookshop.

As an extension of the Café Literario La Comarca, the space will operate from noon to midnight, thanks to the strategic alliance with the Provincial Center of Books and Literature.

The specialized library will provide service to associates, researchers and users interested in literature written by young people, and publications from the AHS's stamps and editorial collections in Cuba.

Experienced librarian Gilma Guerra Suárez, who has already received the Bachiller y Morales Commemorative Seal and the Olinta Ariosa National Prize for her four decades of work, will be in charge.

Yunielkis Naranjo, director of the Center of the Book, tells us that this way they fulfill a dream rose a decade ago, when the actor Grabiel Castillo presided the Camagüey´s branch of the AHS, and he directed the House of the Young Creator.

It was born with ideas of the writer Mariela Pérez-Castro to make a great cultural complex, which has become the headquarters of the organization; and now they are inaugurating a unique space in Cuba.

Naming the library-bookshop Esther Montes de Oca is especially significant, because it pays tribute to a revolutionary teacher who suffered the murder of her children by the Batista dictatorship on August 13, 1957.

In a visit to San Juan and Martínez, Pinar del Río, the delegation of associates from Camagüey was the last to see Esther alive at 105 years of age, a few hours before she died on April 17, 2016.

That is why the space is set with images of Esther and her children Sergio and Luis Saíz, and also with photographs of the Camagüey´s citizens who participated in the funeral honors.

Ihordan Torres Hernández, president of the AHS branch, ratified the commitment as a generation to Esther, who is loved as the mother of young Cuban creators, and to the transcendence of the Saíz brothers, symbols of the desire to defend culture and make revolution.

The Esther Montes de Oca Library-Bookshop joins the network of comfortable facilities, reading areas and places that highlight Camagüey's condition as the Cradle of Cuban Literature on a daily basis.
