CAMAGÜEY. - The group Rumbatá, winner of the Cubadisco Award 2018 in the category of Afro-Cuban tradition, will give workshops of singing, beat and percussion during the Fiesta de la Cubanía (Party of the Cuban identity), foreseen from October 17 to October 20 in Bayamo.

Wilmer Ferrán, the director of the group, affirmed to Adelante Digital that his music will not be missing in spaces of concert of this event avenger of the roots of the Cuban nationality.

There he will interpret themes of the third production, Thanks to the rumba (Bis Music, 2016), rewarded in the record holiday of the country, for its seamlessness with the yambú, the guaguancó and the columbia, the homage to the piece of nueva trova and the bonus track with the topic Llorarás along with the orchestra Dimensión Latina of Venezuela.

“The sincerity distinguishes this disc. We did it to savor it and to have at home our vision of the emergence of the rumba. I dedicate it to my public, who for more than 20 years is with me, it behaves very well and it is elegant”, he affirmed.

The result surprised him in the shooting of the documentary of the group, under the guidance of the filmmaker Isabel Santos, and although the result makes him happy, he clarifies that he did the disc without competitions fortitude.

“That I´ll be excused Thanks to the rumba but the second disc, The rumba of the century, we put a lot of faith and I have it more hanging in the heart. Certainly, the award gives me happiness and strength because it passed a filter and you know that they analyzed it”.

After the Fiesta de la Cubanía it will take part in El Rumbazo (Havana), the Fiesta de la Cultura Iberoamericana (Holguín), the show of last two Saturdays in the Caribbean Cultural Center of Camagüey, and the work in prisons and carnivals.

“I want to occupy my free time and to form the Rumbatá quarry in Camagüey but I continue without place. We are dreaming for a while. We would like to go to the Grammys”, he concluded.
