Walter Casteels, director of this event, was grateful to the embassy of the European country in Cuba for facilitating the assistance of the group, which won the public with spectacles of great rhythm and color like "Por los campos de mi Cuba" and "Cubanísimo", where rural and urban traditional dances were enjoyed.

According to a note sent by Fernando Medrano, director of the group, to the Provincial Department of Culture, the barrier of the language did not constitute an impediment for the Belgian public, since they sang ¨El manisero¨, of Moisés Simons, and danced along with them ¨La guantanamera¨ popularized by Joseíto Fernández.

In addition to the performances in the festival, in which also there took part folk sets from France, Ukraine, Sweden, and the hostess city, the Cuban gave a dance and Cuban traditional singings class for children, as well as the variety of the wardrobe, and how it is designed.

For two weeks Camagua remained in Belgium, itinerary that joins to the extensive tour along Europe kicked off in France last June, with the participation in the Danses et Musiques d'ailleurs... c'est ICI!, event sponsored by the International Council of Organizations of Festivals of Folklore and of the Traditional Arts.

The company has its origin in the multiawarded Artistic Group Maraguán, of amateur artists of the University of Camagüey, founded by Medrano in 1981 and directed by him until 2011, when the body of dance and the team of direction decide to form a new professional group.

At present it is assigned to the Department of Culture and included in the Excellence Catalogue of the Cuban Music Institute.
