On Monday, the Senate's plenary will hold a non-deliberative meeting to listen to statements from the general committee, because, according to the chairman of the special impeachment committee, Ricardo Lara, they must recess for 48 hours, as established by law, before taking into consideration the opinion of Rapporteur Antonio Anastasia.

In order for the request to impeach the president to be approved, only the vote of the simple majority of all 81 senators will be needed, Lara told Agencia Senado. He explained that if the plenary approves the process, it will return to the special committee, which will be in charge of carrying out the process.

In this case, if the request is approved, the president will be informed about the decision and will be removed from her post for up to 180 days to carry out the impeachment.
