A Real Cuban

Carlos Lazo is one of the Cubans who risks his life every day to change the history between Cuba and the United States. With a life made in that nation, he does not stop doing for his people here. He cycled 5,000 kilometers to demand an end to the cruel measures imposed by the Trump administration. Now his initiative Puentes de Amor seeks to lift the restrictions that still weigh on the Cuban family.

Facing the COVID-19, biosecurity decides

It is no coincidence that I need the assistance of Dr. Leosvel Pérez, a doctor from the Vertientes municipality, in this province, and a member of the Henry Reeve International Contingent, made up of Cuban Health personnel Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics. The issue of biosafety (it deals with the prevention and control of biological risk in people who are exposed, directly or indirectly) is one of the most mentioned in times of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19, because it is an act that decides.

Twenty-two children in Camagüey remain admitted with active SARS-Cov 2

22 children remain admitted with active SARS-CoV 2 throughout the province, two of them under one year of age, and there are already 300 confirmed minors since the beginning of this year. All active patients are stable and with a favorable evolution, however, the data sets off alarms about the care of the smallest at home.

Almost 100,000 PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) tests to detect the SARS-CoV 2 virus have been performed in Camagüey since a year ago, when the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed. In these last twelve months, the number of hospitalized people has exceeded 6,000, with a high cost of supplies and medical personnel.
