FIVB Announces Field for 2010 Men’s World League PDF Print E-mail

HAVANA, Cuba, (acn) Cuba will be playing in Pool D of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Men’s World League 2010 accompanied by Argentina, Poland and Germany. During the drawing of lots of the event held in Rome, Italy, last Wednesday, the FIVB awarded Argentina the honor of hosting the Final Round of the event, the 21st edition of Volleyball’s flagship annual men’s competition. The Final Round is scheduled for July 21-25, 2010, in Cordoba, Argentina’s second largest city, which was a host city of the 2002 FIVB Men’s World Championships.

 

The World League formula remains unchanged. The Final Round will be contested by the automatically qualified host team, the four top-ranked teams from the Intercontinental Round pools and the best second-placed team across the four pools.

The other pools for the preliminary round will have the following composition:

Group A: Brazil, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, South Korea
Group B: Serbia, Italy, France, China
Group C: Russia, USA, Finland, Egypt
Brazil won the 2009 World League while Serbia, Russia and Cuba completed the Top Four.
