Cuba warned of attempts by the U.S. and its European allies to make the Human Rights Council, based in the Swiss city of Geneva, a platform of prosecutions and attacks on Southern nations, as if the ones who selected themselves as "judges" had an honest record.
altThis is not the first time that such a maneuver is used and apparently will not be the last one, given the Western nations' obsession to proclaim themselves as models of the privileges of citizens, when their daily life reflects a different truth.
The United States, for example, together with its allies, invades and occupies other countries under any pretext, and persists in the conquest event when the falsity of the arguments is later discovered.
To the dismay of the public opinion, the excess of the U.S.occupation forces continues in Afghanistan, where they outrage religious bastions or shoot the civilian population at close range.
We speak of a State that paid large salaries to their scientists to design sophisticated aircraft used in the practice to spread terror, as the so-called drones, cursed in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
It seems questionable that a government is presented as a zealous guardian of human rights after sending expeditionary forces to Iraq, which, among other missions, opened torture camps bordering on barbarism.
A country that sets a scene of torture at the illegal Guantánamo base in Cuba, an illegally usurped territory, without taking its inmates to trial is not an example to follow.
Nor is a very positive endorsement drawn from a country that maintains a blockade against Cuba designed to stifle its people by hunger or that one that, supported by its allies, opened concentration camps in Europe, under the pretext of "combating terrorism".
Washington and the powers of the Old World are also the ones that set up the ruthless method of indiscriminate bombing of the population in Libya in order to change the existing regime in the twenty-first century.
This is the same country that judges the human rights situation of nearly 190 other countries through controversial reports, but has not succeeded in dismantling a system that sees racial minorities and immigrants as second-class citizens.
It is impossible to maintain the credibility of the litany of the U.S.government about how proud they are of their human rights record and its world-leading role in this regard.
As noted by Cuban diplomats accredited to international organizations, some governments aim to become worldwide attorneys and universalize a single model of social order.
Washington and its allies have nothing to boast about in regard to human rights, but rather set impressive records about their levels of hypocrisy, selectivity and double standards.
