Havana.- Cuban President Raul Castro, first secretary of Cuba´s Communist Party Central Committee received the General Secretary of Vietnam´s Communist Party, Nguyen Phu Trong, who is paying an official and friendly visit to the island.
During the fraternal meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on different issues of international interest and on the challenges facing the two communist parties in the construction of Socialism both in Cuba and Vietnam.alt
The distinguished visitor was accompanied by Pham Quang, member of the political bureau of Vietnam´s Communist Party and other leaders with the visiting delegation. On the Cuba side, were the Second Secretary of Cuba´s Communist Party Central Committee, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, who is also Cuban First Vice-president, as well as other party and government officials.
At the end of the talks, the Vietnamese top Communist Party leader was bestowed the Jose Marti order, the highest distinction granted by the Republic of Cuba.
