Increased Concern in Iran for Possible Israel-USA Maneuvers

Moscow.- Concerns and denunciations have intensified in Iran amid preparations by the United States and Israel to launch joint antiaircraft maneuvers in the Middle East, according to Russia Today (RT) channel.

The said drills of unprecedented dimension would beef up US troops in the area by the thousands, and Tehran fears those forces could be really used in an attack.

However, the maneuvers, originally scheduled for this spring, have been postponed for October, which might be a sign from Tel Aviv to the White House of its disagreement with the "lack of immediate action" by the United States against Iran, says RT.

Still, the eventual war games in the area will test Iran´s patience, as the United States has never ruled out an attack under the pretext that the Islamic Republic is trying to produce nuclear weapons.

Israel, whose arsenal is estimated at 200 nuclear warheads, refused to sign the Non-Proliferation Treaty, unlike Iran, which is a full fledged party of this agreement that gives signatories the right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

Meanwhile, the United States have provided Iran´s neighbour countries with sophisticated weapon systems and has concentrated in the Strait of Hormuz a great number of war ships, including two aircraft carriers.
