Havana.- President of the Cuban Parliament Ricardo Alarcon demanded U.S. President Barack Obama to order the immediate release of the five Cuban antiterrorists, who have been unjustly held in that country for almost 14 years. "Obama, do what you can and must do: order the immediate and unconditional release of the Five", noted Alarcon referring to the case of Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González.

"The fight for the Five to return to our country is a priority for all Cubans and a task we must carry out relentlessly until we succeed", noted the leader of the legislative body during his statement at the fifth International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba.

In front of over a thousand participants from all continents to the event, Alarcon underlined that the cause of the Five, as they are known worldwide, bears a strategic importance for all beyond the borders of the Caribbean nation.

"This cause is important for the peoples of the world that tackle the serious dangers of violence and irrationality of an arrogant and foolish policy of the great centers of power", stated Alarcon.

The participants also discussed the actions carried out and those still pending so that Gerardo, Ramón, Antonio, Fernando and René, arrested in Miami when they monitored the plans of anti-Cuban organizations in south Florida, can return to Cuba.

Alicia Jrapko, coordinator of the International Committee to Free the Cuban Five in the United States, requested the support of those attending the meeting for the Five to return to Cuba.

Obama, disponga libertad de antiterroristas cubanos, dice Alarcón

La Habana, 2 may (PL) El presidente del Parlamento cubano, Ricardo Alarcón, exigió hoy al mandatario de Estados Unidos, Barack Obama, disponer la liberación inmediata de cinco antiterroristas condenados en aquel país hace casi 14 años.

Obama haga lo que puede y debe hacer: disponga la libertad inmediata e incondicional de Los Cinco, expresó Alarcón al aludir al caso de Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González y René González.

La lucha para que regresen pronto es una prioridad para los cubanos y es una tarea en la que debemos multiplicarnos sin tregua y descanso hasta la victoria total, añadió el líder del órgano legislativo al intervenir en el X Encuentro Internacional de Solidaridad con Cuba.

Ante más de un millar de participantes de todos los continentes, Alarcón remarcó que la causa de Los Cinco ó"como se les conoce en las campañas mundiales- es de importancia estratégica para todos más allá de los límites de la nación caribeña.

Esta causa, manifestó, es importante para los pueblos de todo el mundo que afrontan los graves peligros de la violencia y la irracionalidad de una política arrogante y necia de los grandes centros de poder.

Los participantes también debatieron sobre acciones realizadas y por hacer para conseguir el regreso a Cuba de Gerardo, Ramón, Antonio, Fernando y René, arrestados en Miami cuando monitoreaban los planes de organizaciones violentas anticubanas en el sur de la Florida.

Alicia Jrapko, coordinadora del Comité Internacional por la Liberación de Los Cinco en Estados Unidos, solicitó el apoyo de los asistentes para unidos conseguir que vuelvan a su país.
